Wearing the Pants

Hola Familia!

To explain the title, this week Hermana Lynch and I decided to wear pants, which is allowed here for misquitos, because we decided that we didn´t want to let the bugs here have too much fun eating us. The bugs really aren´t that bad, except when we have lessons up  in the mountains in our area.I won´t be able to spend any pictures this week, but hopefully later I can send some that we took of us in pants. It feels really odd to wear pants and eveytime our investigators see up wearing them we get funny comments. the only complaint I have about pants is that they are very very hot and when it rains we end up wearing wet pants for the rest of the day.

sorry for the rant on pants, this week really was a good one. I think I mentioned some of the families that we are teaching right now last week. We are teaching a little Haitian family and also the family of a return missionary. We have been having a hard time getting them to come to church, but this week they both came! We  of are hoping that the family of the return missionary will be able to be baptized in about t two weeks, bur we´ll see wh hat happens. We have been working hard (and sweating a lot :) ), and are trying to find people who are really interested in listening. We also have this really sweet older lady we are teaching, Ana Silvia, who lives with her three sons and met with the missionaries about fourteen years ago but lost contact with them after a transfer. She is always so sweet and is definitely ready to be baptized, we´ve set a baptismal date for September 9 with her and are praying it all works out. Akready I´ve met so many great people here who I love and who are amazing.

We´ve been contacting a lot this week and for some reason this week we´ve met so many really talkative Dominicans (which actually isn´t that uncommon) and heard a ton of American music and it has been really fun. We were contacting and we heard an Imagine Dragons song coming from one of the houses so we decided to knock on the door. Unfortunately no one answered, but we´re determined to try again this week at that same house. We also cleaned our fridge because it didn´t smell that great and hasn´t been cleaned since sometime before I came here, but after we cleaned it, it ended up smelling worse. My companion started singing the Coldplay song ¨Fix you¨ , the line that goes ¨when you try your best but you don´t succeed¨ and we just started cracking up. We´re going to try to figure out what is happening with our fridge, but who knows what will happen.

I was happy to find out that everyone had a good week. It sounds like this next one will be a crazy one, with school starting and everyone traveling back home. I also heard a lot about the eclipse, even from the people here in the DR, so I hope that is  really cool. I love you all and can´t wait to hear from you again.
